On the whole, Akelli is not half as exciting as it shouldve been. As such, it will not be able to entice enough public to the cinemas and will, therefore, prove to be a failure.

This Nushrratt Bharuccha-starrer makes for a tiring watch, where all you do is wonder how we are meant to swallow the going-ons on screen.young woman desperate to find a job that will pay off the loans her family €” a weepy mother and teenage niece €” is buried under. An uncaring agent (Rajesh Jais) talks her into accepting a supervisory position at a garments factory job in Mosul, Iraq, and once there, she finds herself in a nightmarish situation, despite the presence of her protective colleague (Nishant Dahiya): the far-off war-drums are coming nearer and nearer, the factory is raided by an ISIS like bunch, and she is taken off to be turned into a sex slave.

This tale of a woman cornered and fighting for dear life had the potential to be a thrilling, edge-of-the-seat ripsnorter. It falls way, way short. The lacklustre Akelli is a film best left alone.

Akelli thrives within the confines of enclosed spaces, but falters when it ventures beyond them. In an era dominated by cutting-edge, terrorism-themed series on various streaming platforms, the film struggles to maintain its impact.

Jyoti aka Nushrratt travels back to India by hiding in the landing gear compartment of an airplane. I have zero knowledge about if this is even possible and therefore, I do not wish to point the discussion towards that. However, the film shows how she falls off the compartment when the airplane lands. This looks so stupid, and unrelatable, and spoils the entire rawness of the film.Overall, Akelli can be watched once. It isnt boring and wont make you regret buying this film ticket.

The film is an intriguing cinematic experience that defies expectations, embracing a complex theme of terrorism and survival. Pranay Meshram’s directorial debut is notable for its technical prowess, especially in sound and VFX. While the film’s pacing and thematic execution have their shortcomings, the engaging performances and suspenseful moments make it worth a watch. Akelli earns a respectable 2.5 stars, reflecting its mixture of strengths and areas for improvement.
